Denis Bourke

Denis is the Managing Director and Principal of CED.  He has more than twenty years of applied business experience in both the public and private sector, and for much of that time he has held senior manager and executive positions.

He is an experienced Executive, thought leader, coach, facilitator, strategist and program designer in the areas of:

  • Management and leadership development;
  • Coaching and mentoring; and,
  • Top-tier talent and succession management.

Denis' special interest lies in the design and facilitation of management and leadership development programs, and the design and implementation of talent and succession management strategies. Development programs have been delivered throughout Australia, and in New Zealand, Malaysia, the UK, US, Chile and Argentina and are underpinned by his research and innovation in the area of adult learning in professional environments.

He has managed, designed and delivered more than 60,000 person days of workshop and program activities and he has published and presented widely on a range of issues.  Participants in Denis’ programs have ranged from front-line team leaders and supervisors, through to middle managers and executive groups, and his ability to relate to this range of responsibilities and experience has been recognised as a prominent aspect of his work.

Working and consulting predominantly in Australia, Denis also has experience in the United States, United Kingdom, and the Asia Pacific region and has worked in, and with, a variety of industries and disciplines, including: professional services; engineering; financial services; manufacturing; energy and the environment; education; government; and academia.

Denis holds a Doctorate in Business Administration and Graduate and Undergraduate degrees in Public Administration and Education, respectively.  He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Graduate of the AICD Company Director's Course, and he is also a past Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and the Australian Institute of Management.  

As an advisor to the Blackwood Centre for Adolescent Development, a secondary school for young children at risk, Denis’ work with Blackwood was recognised through an Australian Humanitarian Award in the category of Social Justice and Law. In addition, CED and Blackwood were named as national winners of the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in the category of small business and community partnerships.
